Salazar Family
Have you ever had a bittersweet feeling about your best friend leaving to another state?
On one hand, I was very happy for this family because they were moving across the country for a better job offer. But from another hand, it was so bitter because one of my best friends was leaving pretty far away!
A little backstory.
It was the beginning of the year in our school and I was at the parent orientation event. The room was packed with parents and I was happy to see many familiar faces there, and new faces as well. And one mama made herself noticeable because she was asking lots of questions 🙂
A few days later when I took kids to the library to the lego club I noticed this mama again coming to the same lego club with her three kids. Two girls and a baby boy in the stroller. At that time I had only two kids and the third one was on the way. Of course, with all my fears about how to transition from two kids to three, I couldn’t lose a chance to ask this mama about all the “fun” times with three kids 5 and under.
So I came to this mama and told her that our kids go to the same school and I saw her at parents orientation day. We started chatting. About kids, about the school, about tons of other stuff and it just felt that I know her for as long as I know myself. So easy to communicate, so much in common, so comfortable to be around.
We quickly became best friends and our kids had so much fun together as well. Seriously so many memories. Many days on the playground after school watching kids play together, talking about simple and not so simple stuff, girls night outs, scouting for some photography locations, having breakfast after dropping kids off at school, babysitting for each other and so much more. I never had a person in my life who became a much-needed close friend for such a short period of time. I could share a lot and not be worried that she doesn’t care. And knowing how busy we all are with life, kids, etc, this is something really rare to find.
Sometime later, this family got this opportunity to leave for another state and as I mentioned above I had mixed feelings about this news.
Oh well, this is life. People find better opportunities in life and had to make better decisions for their family. I totally understand.
And I really wanted this family to have something from me that will remind them not only about San Diego as the best city in the world but about me as a friend. And the best way to do it was to have professional family portraits on the beach.
We did their session just a few days before they had to leave. This family had a lot on their plate at that moment. However, getting professional family portraits taken in the city where they lived for several years was an important task to do as well.
It was a really easy and inspirational session, with kids being super cute and cooperative and parents being very patient.
And just look at those kids. Fun personalities! Adorable faces! Cutest curly hair ever! Ans super beautiful smiles! Sounds like a dream to any family photographer!
In the end, all I can add is that this family will be forever in my heart and I’m hoping the distance will not make our friendship any less.
I hope you enjoyed this family portraits as much as I did.
